A reliable menswear staple

Historically a sports garment, the short began to gain popularity around the mid-20th century, especially with the advent of summer paid holidays (in France). Though it can be made in a wide variety of fabrics, its most iconic modern version is the "chino short" in cotton twill, recognizable by the fine diagonal lines in its weave.

We chose a technique known as piece-dyeing, which involves immersing the undyed fabric in dye vats before the garment is assembled. This process results in a deep, even color that stands up well to the sun’s rays.

After extensive research, we found exactly what we were looking for at Folgarolas, a Spanish weaver based in Catalonia for over 70 years. We value their vertically integrated expertise—from yarn selection to spinning and weaving—as well as their commitment to local sourcing (the cotton, for instance, is sourced from Turkey).

How to wear them

Due to its shape, these shorts are a casual piece.

Wear them in warm weather with a cotton/linen t-shirt or a simple tank top. To add a touch of style, consider a knitted polo, a rolled-sleeve shirt, or a Cuban-collar shirt.

For footwear, beyond classic sneakers, you might go for espadrilles, loafers for a hint of elegance, or even leather sandals.
